Can you believe everything you see now?ย
From AI-generated images to audio to deepfakes.

We are in an era where AI is transforming the media landscape and media production is more of a digital than a physical process. From anywhere and anytime, anyone can create media content using AI tools and technologies. How can we leverage creativity, AI tools and collaboration while being responsible?

Synthetic Truths are a group of Digital Transformation trainees from the Digital Society School of HvA. They want to explore the best and worst practices or approaches for co-creating amongst stakeholders with synthetic media, dive deep to understand how media literacy can support co-creation in synthetic media use and gain knowledge on responsible and ethical considerations on synthetic media usage.

๐Ÿ“ข Prepared, capture the moment, and let the show begin!

๐Ÿง—๐Ÿผ These past five months have been an intense period of growth and learning. They have not only evolved as Transformation designers but have also upskilled ourselves to become collaborative team players. Starting as strangers on day one, They have transformed into a close-knit team ๐Ÿงต

Considering the omnipresence of media in our lives, we consume and create more content than ever before. Nowadays anyone can edit and publish a TikTok video, produce music on a laptop, or enhance photos with creative filters using a mobile app. This revolution in content creation is powered by one key element โ€“ synthetic media, generated with the help of AI algorithms.ย

These AI-driven technologies have reached a point where they can create text, images, voice, and video content with such fidelity that it is often indistinguishable from reality. Media is no longer just about representing reality; it is now capable of generating and altering it, opening new possibilities for real-time inclusion, adaptation, and manipulation of stories.ย

This democratisation of media production allows everyone, from hobbyist creators to professionals, to explore and contribute to content creation in innovative ways. But as we embrace synthetic media and AI-assisted content creation, it also brings a responsibility to be transparent about the origins of these โ€˜unrealโ€™ stories.ย
